8-Week MBSR Course

Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm-9:00pm beginning April 9, 2014 through May 28, 2014.
Full-day retreat on Saturday May 17, 2014.

Please review our self-screening questionnaire prior to registration to determine if this course will be a good fit for you. You may also view the class waiver here, which will be distributed, signed, and collected on the first day of class.

What it is: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a program originally designed over thirty years ago by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. The course has a basis in eastern psychology but is very applicable to modern secular life. Mindfulness is the practice of sustained focus, self-regulation, self-exploration, and self-liberation with an accepting, open and kind attitude.

Benefits of MBSR: Common outcomes include

  • Calmness and expanded awareness
  • Increased brain growth and function in areas of emotional control and executive function
  • Decreased stress
  • Improved self-image, emotional regulation, and concentration
  • Less anxiety

More details on MBSR can be found at http://www.mindfulnessnw.com/what-is-mbsr/
You can also read more about recent research findings on MBSR at Science Daily
